Berlin Zoo tickets: from €32 for two, or €50 at the gate
Berlin Zoo tickets cost from €16 online and €25 at the gate. Zoo, Aquarium and Tierpark compared for two, with winter hours and annual passes. Checked Oct 2026.
Berlin Zoo tickets cost from €16.00 online and €25.00 at the gate, so two adults pay from €32 online or €50 on the day. The Tierpark is cheaper, the Aquarium costs the same as the Zoo, and from 26 October the Zoo’s last entry is 15:30.
That €18 gap for two people, just for buying on your phone instead of at the window, is, for us, the number that matters most. The rest is which of the three to pick.
The short version
- Zoo Berlin and the AQUARIUM Berlin: adults from €16.00 online, €25.00 at the box office. Children aged 4 to 15 from €7.50 online. Under-4s go free.
- Tierpark Berlin: adults from €14.50 online, €22.50 at the box office. It is the only one of the three that lets dogs in.
- The Zoo + Aquarium combi ticket is from €24.00 online, against €32.00 for two separate online tickets. It is sold only until 15:00.
- From 26 October to 31 December the Zoo and the Tierpark close at 16:30, with last entry at 15:30. The Aquarium stays open 9:00 to 18:00 all year.
- Our pick for two on a dark afternoon: the Aquarium, booked online. For a long walk and a dog: the Tierpark.

Berlin Zoo tickets compared: what two people pay
The online prices are “from” prices. The Zoo told visitors when it introduced flexible online pricing in March 2024 that booking earlier is cheaper and popular days cost more, so a Saturday in the school holidays can cost you more than the figure below. The box office price is fixed. The “two adults” columns are our own sums.
| Ticket | Adult online, from | Adult at the box office | Two adults online, from | Two adults at the box office | Open now (to 25 Oct) | Open 26 Oct to 31 Dec |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Zoo Berlin | €16.00 | €25.00 | €32.00 | €50.00 | 9:00 to 18:00, last entry 17:00 | 9:00 to 16:30, last entry 15:30 |
| AQUARIUM Berlin | €16.00 | €25.00 | €32.00 | €50.00 | 9:00 to 18:00, last entry 17:00 | 9:00 to 18:00, last entry 17:00 |
| Zoo + Aquarium combi | €24.00 | €37.00 | €48.00 | €74.00 | Combi sold until 15:00 | Combi sold until 15:00 |
| Tierpark Berlin | €14.50 | €22.50 | €29.00 | €45.00 | 9:00 to 18:00, last entry 17:00 | 9:00 to 16:30, last entry 15:30 |
Children aged 4 to 15 pay from €7.50 online at the Zoo and the Aquarium (€12.50 at the box office) and from €7.00 at the Tierpark (€11.00). Reduced tickets, for students, trainees and a few other groups with proof, are from €9.00 at the Zoo and from €7.50 at the Tierpark. There is no family day ticket at any of the three. Adult and child prices include an optional €0.50 species-protection contribution that you can untick when you buy.
Getting there adds €16 for two. The Zoo and the Aquarium share S+U Zoologischer Garten, and the Tierpark has its own U5 station, Tierpark. A BVG AB single ticket is €4.00 and valid for 120 minutes, so a return trip for two is €16.00. That puts a Zoo day for two at €48 door to door at the cheapest online price, and a Tierpark day at €45.

Which one to pick
Zoo Berlin is in the middle of the city, next to the station, and calls itself Germany’s oldest zoo, founded in 1844. Its own 2025 count, which includes the Aquarium, lists 21,930 animals of 1,021 species. The Löwentor entrance is on Hardenbergplatz by the station.
The AQUARIUM Berlin sits on the edge of the Zoo at Budapester Straße 32, across three floors. It is indoors, which makes it the best answer of the three to rain and to early darkness. Its day tickets are for a fixed time slot and cannot be refunded. Handcarts and multi-seat nursery carts are not allowed.
Tierpark Berlin in Friedrichsfelde is the one for space. It describes itself as Europe’s largest zoo park, at 160 hectares, and it is €1.50 cheaper per adult online. Dogs are allowed in on a short leash at no charge, which rules the other two out for dog owners. Schloss Friedrichsfelde, the small palace inside the park, opens Friday to Sunday from 11:00 to 15:00.
If you are choosing between all three, our call is simple. Zoo plus Aquarium on one day, with the combi, if you have a full day and are starting early. The Aquarium alone if it is wet, dark or after lunch. The Tierpark if you want to walk and talk more than you want to queue at the glass. For other indoor ideas on a grey day, see our list of rainy day activities in Berlin.
Zoo, Aquarium or Tierpark is a better question with two people. Post the day and the place on MITRA, say whether you are buying the combi, and someone who wants the same afternoon can join you. Get MITRA on Google Play · Download on the App Store
The winter hours trap
From 26 October to 31 December the Zoo and the Tierpark close at 16:30, and last entry is 15:30. The animal houses at the Zoo close half an hour before the gates. The combi ticket is sold only until 15:00. Put those together and a winter Zoo + Aquarium day really needs to start in the morning. During Weihnachten im Tierpark, the evening light trail from 20 November, the Tierpark’s FAQ says day visits end at 16:00, so check its hours page before you go.
The Aquarium does not change. It is open 9:00 to 18:00 all year, with last entry at 17:00, so it is the one plan of the three that still works after a late lunch in December. All three close at 14:00 on 24 December. If you are planning a whole season of short days, our guide to winter in Berlin has the sunset times.

When an annual pass pays off
An adult annual pass for one venue costs €69.00, or €62.50 as an online subscription that renews itself, with a minimum term of 24 months. Against the cheapest online day ticket of €16.00, the €69.00 pass pays off on your fifth visit and the €62.50 subscription on your fourth. Against the €25.00 box office price, both pay off on your third.
The pass for all three, Zoo, Aquarium and Tierpark, is €119.00 for an adult. Against the €24.00 combi, that is five Zoo + Aquarium days. Passes are personal and cannot be passed on, and there is no partner pass for two, so each person needs their own. Annual pass holders also get half off a regular day ticket at the other venues, and they must register a visit to the Aquarium in advance, free of charge.
Our view: if you live in Berlin and would go once a month on a weekend, the single-venue pass is the cheapest way in. If you go twice a year, buy day tickets online. For more ways to make culture cheaper, see the Berlin Museum Pass and free museums in Berlin.
Going with someone
We think a zoo is one of the easiest first plans with someone you do not know well. You walk side by side, there is always something to point at, and nobody has to fill a silence across a table. Book your own tickets separately online, meet at the entrance rather than inside, and agree in advance whether you are doing the Aquarium too, because the combi has to be bought before 15:00.
For a whole cheap weekend built around it, see our cheap weekend in Berlin plan.
What we would skip
We would skip the box office. At the Zoo it costs two adults €18 more than the lowest online price, and the online ticket also skips the queue. We would skip the combi after lunch in winter, when the Zoo’s houses close at 16:00 and you would be paying for time you do not have. And we would not take a dog to the Zoo or the Aquarium: dogs are not allowed at either.
Under-4s are free at all three, but you still book them a free ticket online. Children under 12 must be with an adult.
How we compared them
We took every price, hour and rule from the three operators’ own price, opening-hours and FAQ pages, in German and English, and used the German pages where they differed. We compared adult prices because that is what two friends pay, and we added the BVG fare because it is the same for everyone.
