Diwali in Berlin peaks on Saturday 7 November 2026, the eve of Diwali itself (Sunday 8 November). Five celebrations have 2026 dates; the cheapest is an Indian street-food festival at YAAM, two tickets €8.92 on Eventim*.

Links marked * are affiliate links: if you book through them, MITRA earns a small commission. The price is the same for you.

The catch: the two big Saturday festivals run at the same time in different districts, the Wedesi one sells entry by time slot, and Diwali itself falls on a Sunday, when most Berlin shops are closed.

For the rest of the month, see Berlin events in November 2026, and if you’re still building a circle here, how to make friends in Berlin without German is the honest version.

Saturday 7 November is the real Diwali night in Berlin

Diwali itself is Sunday 8 November 2026: the Lakshmi Puja day in Drik Panchang’s calendar for Berlin, the date of the temple’s Diwali evening, and the main day of MAGICUM’s programme. But the two public festivals are on the Saturday, so that is when most of Berlin’s Diwali crowd is out.

Diwali is the Hindu festival of lights. Britannica explains the name as Sanskrit for a “row of lights” and describes a five-day festival in which lamps called diyas are lit. In Berlin it is also a public festival open to anyone, with food, music and dance.

The practical point: Sunday is closing day for most shops in Berlin. Buy sweets, diyas and anything for a puja at home by Saturday. INDIAN STORE at Potsdamer Str. 100 in Tiergarten is one of Berlin’s Indian grocery stores.

Going together

On 30 June 2026, 49,504 people with Indian citizenship lived in Berlin, according to the state statistics office, and 44,614 of them (90%) were aged 15 to 44. That count leaves out Germans of Indian heritage. Diwali is a family festival, and for many of them family is a long flight away.

Diwali works best in company. Bring friends from home, or bring a colleague or flatmate who has never been: the Wedesi festival has no door policy and no dress code, and one child under 16 gets in free with each paying adult.

Which one we would book

For a first Diwali in Berlin, or for bringing someone who has never been, we would book the Wedesi festival at Jules B-Part: €7.18 each online with the fee, the biggest programme, and a stage that runs from classical dance to stand-up and a Bollywood DJ. Book a slot early in the day and check its time on your ticket; the organiser says the earliest and latest slots fill first.

For a standard adult ticket we would skip Eventim unless the official shop is sold out: at €12.34 it costs €5.16 more per person than the early bird with its fee. Students are the exception: Eventim’s €6.17 student ticket is cheaper. For YAAM it is the other way round: Eventim’s €4.46 is cheaper than Eventbrite’s €5.44.

If you care more about food than about a show, YAAM is the better afternoon (more food ideas in our guide to street food markets in Berlin). And if you want the Diwali that families celebrate at home, the temple evening on Sunday is the closest thing in Berlin, but it is a place of worship: its page does not say how it welcomes visitors, so email the temple first.

Diwali weekend for two: €34.93 in tickets

Our sum for a full Diwali weekend for two, tickets only, cheapest ticket open to everyone each time:

  • Friday night: Wedesi club night at Maaya with the two-person pass: €11.65.
  • Saturday, an early slot: the Wedesi festival at Jules B-Part, two early-bird tickets online with the fee: €14.36.
  • Saturday evening: YAAM street-food festival, two tickets on Eventim: €8.92.
  • Sunday: buy nothing; shops are shut. Sweets bought on Saturday, diyas at home.

Total: €34.93 for two, before food. Food at both Saturday festivals is pay-as-you-go. Jules B-Part is in Kreuzberg and YAAM in Friedrichshain, so plan the trip across town between them.
