Rooftop bars in Berlin in winter: 4 open, 3 shut till May
Four of seven run in winter: Monkey Bar, Loft14, Solar, Klunkerkranich (weekends); AMANO, ZOE, Grand Central wait for May. Cocktails €12–15. Checked Oct 2026.
Of the seven rooftop bars in Berlin we checked, four keep going in winter: Monkey Bar, Loft14 and Solar most nights, Klunkerkranich at weekends. Most cocktails cost €12 to €15. AMANO, ZOE and Grand Central open only May to September.
The catch is the open air. Of the four open in winter, only Monkey Bar and Klunkerkranich describe outdoor space, and in mid-December, when the sun sets at about 15:52, Loft14 and Solar do not open until 18:00.

If the evening is a Sunday, when neither Loft14 nor Solar lists any hours, things to do on a Sunday in Berlin has other plans, and brunch in Berlin covers the daytime version of a view and a drink.
The catch: one terrace, and the sunset comes before most doors open
Monkey Bar’s own pages talk about a roof terrace and a “sundowner terrace”. Loft14 promises a panoramic view over Berlin and Solar a 270-degree one, but neither mentions any outdoor space, so in practice you are watching the city through glass.
Klunkerkranich is the exception: an open-air roof garden, but in its off-season it opens at weekends only. Timing matters more in winter than the view. In mid-December the sun sets in Berlin at about 15:52. Loft14 and Solar both open at 18:00, so a sunset drink there is not possible until spring. Monkey Bar opens at 13:00 on weekdays and 12:00 at weekends, which makes it the only bar here with posted winter hours where you can order before dark on a December weekday.
Which one we would pick
For a first drink with someone, we would go to Solar. Walk-ins at the bar are welcome, and two signature cocktails cost €24 to €30 together (they run €12 to €15 each on its October menu). At Loft14, two of its standard €15 cocktails come to €30.
We would pick Monkey Bar for the late-afternoon slot, because in December it is the only one of the three open before sunset, and its weekday Spritz Special runs until 19:00. We would skip Loft14 on event nights if you want a table: it takes no reservations then. For Klunkerkranich after October, check its programme before you set a date: only the October hours are posted so far.
Going with someone
A rooftop bar works well as a plan for two: there is something to look at when the conversation pauses, and a round for two at Solar or Loft14 is a known cost of €24 to €30. If the other person is someone you have just met, pick 18:00 on a Tuesday to Thursday: Loft14 and Solar are both open then, and it is an easy hour to leave after one drink.

Solar, the Berlin skybar: hours, menu and New Year’s Eve
Solar calls itself a sky-bar, at Stresemannstraße 76 in Kreuzberg. The bar runs Tuesday to Thursday 18:00 to 01:00 and Friday and Saturday 18:00 to 02:00 and is closed on Sunday and Monday. On the October bar menu the signature cocktails cost €12 to €15, the classics €12 to €16 (Pornstar Martini at the top), and every signature also comes alcohol-free for €11 or €12.
For New Year’s Eve Solar sells four packages. The Sky-Bar party is €45 per person, doors 23:00, with 80s and 90s DJs and a midnight snack. Dinner in the restaurant is €220 per person, dinner plus the party €260, and a private option for groups €120 per person on request. For two people, the party alone is €90. Monkey Bar and Loft14
Monkey Bar is on the 10th floor of the 25hours Hotel Bikini Berlin. It is open every day, Monday to Friday 13:00 to 02:00 and weekends 12:00 to 02:00, and serves bar snacks from the NENI kitchen. Its full drinks menu dates from 2023, so we quote no cocktail prices, but its Spritz Special runs Monday to Friday 13:00 to 19:00, with selected Spritz drinks from €8 and a Spritz with mezze for €15. Groups of 10 or more go through the events team.
Loft14 is the 14th floor of the Vienna House by Wyndham Andel’s hotel in Lichtenberg. Of its 19 cocktails on the current menu, 13 cost €15; the four Detox drinks are €12, the Paloma €13 and The Brandenburg Affair €18. A 0.5 litre beer is €6.50. It works on a first come, first served basis; booking is required only for groups of 8 or more, with a credit card.
Klunkerkranich in the off-season
Klunkerkranich is the open-air roof most people picture: a rooftop garden and club venue on the top parking deck of the Neukölln Arcaden. Its off-season runs from 8 October to New Year’s Eve, with the roof open at weekends: Friday and Saturday from 16:00 until 31 October. When we checked on 22 October, the hours for November and December were not yet posted.
Entry costs €3 to €9 depending on the programme and when you arrive, half price with a Berechtigungsnachweis, and tickets for its nights are sold through rausgegangen. There are no reservations. Dogs on a lead are welcome, and children come in only with their own parents. Last winter it closed from 2 January to 5 March 2026 and reopened on 6 March; the 2027 break is not announced.
Closed until May
AMANO Rooftop and ZOE Rooftop Bar, both in Mitte, say on their own pages that they are “currently closed” and open from May to September. The ground-floor ZOE Bar lists opening from 17:00, and the rooftop is 18 and over. Grand Central Rooftop at the Hauptbahnhof lists the same May-to-September season, daily from 17:00 and weather permitting. Its page mentions a chalet as a winter retreat but gives no dates or hours.
Not for a quiet drink
Weekend Club at Alexanderstraße 7 is a rooftop club, open Friday and Saturday from 22:00. Tables are reserved from 6 people, with a minimum spend on request. The Käfer Dachgarten restaurant on the Reichstag is open daily 09:00 to 23:00, dinner from 18:30, and a reservation includes free access to the roof terrace and the dome.
